Governors Siphoning Millions Meant for Your Communities! ADC Sounds the Alarm!

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dropped a bombshell, accusing state governors across Nigeria of a massive financial heist! They claim these governors are holding back cash specifically meant to develop our local communities, plunging the nation into a critical state due to rampant corruption and what they call tyranny. But don’t despair! The ADC is gearing up to lead a coalition that promises to “rescue” Nigeria in 2027 with a fresh approach to leadership. Get ready for the inside scoop!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Governors are accused of pocketing local government funds.
  • Excessive taxation on even the smallest vendors is under fire.
  • Nigeria is described as being in dire straits because of corruption.
  • The ADC plans a 2027 comeback focused on service and integrity.
  • Party members faced harassment before a key summit.

The Shocking Allegations Emerge

Chief Ralph Nwosu, the former national chairman of the ADC, laid bare these serious accusations at the ADC and National Coalition Alliance (NCA) Leadership Summit held in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. He didn’t hold back, painting a grim picture of how Nigerian governors are allegedly crippling grassroots development. Nwosu explained that each local government council in Nigeria is supposed to receive a substantial amount, between ₦300 million and ₦600 million every single month. However, he claims governors are intercepting these funds, leaving local government chairmen with a paltry ₦5 million or ₦10 million, while the rest disappears into their pockets. Imagine the billions being siphoned off monthly, especially in a state like Ebonyi with 13 councils alone!

More Than Just Funds: The Taxing Truth

It’s not just about the missing funds; Nwosu also highlighted the oppressive taxation policies imposed by these governors. He pointed out that even petty traders, like those pushing wheelbarrows, are subjected to heavy taxes. This practice, he declared, must come to an end immediately. The ADC believes that this kind of financial exploitation is a major reason why Nigeria is currently struggling, likening the nation’s condition to being in “intensive care” due to widespread corruption and tyrannical governance.

A Vision for a Rescued Nigeria

Despite the bleak outlook, the ADC is projecting hope. Nwosu assured attendees that an ADC-led coalition is poised to bring about a positive change in 2027. Their proposed leadership model is built on the pillars of selflessness, transparency, stewardship, and dedicated service. This new vision aims to restore Nigeria’s health and prosperity.

Governors Undermining Democracy?

Nwosu expressed deep concern over how governors seem to be using the power entrusted to them as a tool for oppression, rather than for the betterment of the people. He warned that their actions are actively eroding the very democratic foundations that allowed them to gain power in the first place. “You were given the opportunity by God to be governor, yet you are using that power to destroy the same democracy,” he stated passionately. He emphasized that their movement is not just about politics but about a fundamental restoration of the nation’s integrity.

Intimidation Tactics and Resilience

The summit itself was not without its challenges. Nwosu condemned alleged attempts to discredit ADC members by labeling them as “terrorists” in an effort to disrupt the important gathering. This narrative, he argued, is a deliberate tactic to silence opposition and maintain the status quo.

Ebonyi State ADC Speaks Out

Echoing these sentiments, Comrade Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, the Ebonyi State ADC Chairperson, shared her experience. She described the harassment and arrest of party members shortly before the summit as a direct affront to democratic principles. “This is a governor who claimed to level the playing field for all parties, yet our members were harassed and arrested by civilians, not even police,” she lamented. She commended the police for their intervention, which led to the release of the arrested members and the return of their seized belongings. Adibe-Nwafor proudly affirmed that the ADC has solid structures in place throughout all 13 local government areas and 171 wards in Ebonyi State, and they are fully prepared to compete vigorously in the 2027 elections.

Widespread Discontent with the Ruling Party

The National Financial Secretary of the ADC, Muhammad Akibu Dahaltu, also weighed in, criticizing the APC-led governments for their alleged reliance on intimidation. He pointed out that the Nigerian populace has grown exceedingly tired of the ruling party’s performance. “From Kebbi to Kaduna, APC has always used touts and security forces to frustrate us. But Nigerians are tired after Buhari’s eight years and the current administration’s failures. Who in their right senses will vote APC again in 2027?” he questioned, highlighting a perceived widespread desire for change.

A Call for Transparency and Accountability

The ADC’s accusations shed light on a critical issue of governance and resource allocation in Nigeria. The party’s stance underscores the urgent need for greater transparency and accountability from elected officials, especially concerning funds designated for local development. As Nigeria looks towards 2027, the ADC’s message resonates with many citizens who are yearning for leadership that prioritizes service over self-interest and truly works for the progress of every community.
