Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Preaches Unity & Shares Development Wins at Christmas Carol!

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, recently graced the 2025 Christmas Carol organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna. More than just a festive gathering, this event served as a powerful platform for the Governor to champion the cause of unity among all citizens. He used the occasion to highlight the state’s recent developmental strides and reaffirm his commitment to inclusive governance. This year’s carol was particularly special as it marked the Governor’s continuous engagement with the Christian community, fulfilling a promise made last year. The event saw faithful from various Christian denominations coming together in prayer and song, fostering a spirit of togetherness.

  • Governor Sani’s unwavering commitment to attending the Christmas carol yearly.
  • The profound message of unity, love, and sacrifice during the Christmas season.
  • Significant developmental achievements in road infrastructure, healthcare, and agriculture shared by the governor.
  • Reiteration of the administration’s pledge for fair, just, and inclusive governance for all residents of Kaduna State.

A Call for Unity and Shared Humanity

Governor Uba Sani, addressing the attendees at the Umaru Yarádua Conference Centre, expressed his joy at being part of this “sacred moment” for the third time. He emphasized that faith acts as a vital connector, fostering unity, healing, and collective progress within society. “Christmas challenges us not merely to rejoice, but to live differently; to become better neighbours, fairer leaders, and more compassionate citizens,” Sani remarked, underscoring the universal virtues of love, sacrifice, and humility that the season embodies. These values, he noted, transcend religious divides and speak to our shared humanity.

Faith as a Pillar of Stability

The Governor lauded the religious leaders and faithful across Kaduna State for their constant prayers, counsel, and dedication to peace, which have been instrumental in maintaining stability. “In moments of tension and uncertainty, you chose restraint over reaction, dialogue over division, unity over suspicion, and peace over provocation. These choices matter”, he stressed. Governor Sani believes these deliberate choices are not only shaping a more hopeful present but also building the foundation for a more secure and harmonious future for the state’s populace. Hosting the Christmas Carol, he added, is a symbol of Kaduna’s openness, inclusion, and forward-thinking approach.

Delivering on Promises: A Scorecard of Progress

Governor Sani took the opportunity to present a transparent look at his administration’s achievements over the past two and a half years. He recalled his pledge on May 29, 2023, to serve all the people of Kaduna State, irrespective of their background, a promise he stated remains unbroken.

Transforming Infrastructure

In road infrastructure, the administration has made significant strides. The first phase of the road program saw the completion or advancement of 85 roads, covering a remarkable 785 kilometres. Phase Two has initiated over 50 additional roads and bridges, spanning more than 550 kilometres. This expansion is crucial for connecting rural communities to essential services and markets. It’s a major win, considering that before his tenure, 12 local government areas hadn’t seen a single kilometre of motorable road in over a decade. Now, at least 18 local government areas are linked by modern roads, with efforts ongoing to connect all 23.

Boosting Healthcare Access

The health sector has also seen substantial upgrades. 255 Primary Health Care Centres have been elevated to Level Two status, bringing quality healthcare closer to the people. This has led to a noticeable improvement in maternal and child health outcomes. A flagship project is the commissioning of a 300-bed Specialist Hospital, named in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Revitalising Agriculture

Recognizing agriculture’s critical role, contributing over 42% to Kaduna State’s Gross Domestic Product, the administration has significantly increased budgetary allocations. Moving from less than 1% inherited in 2023 to over 10% in the last two years, and projecting around 12% for the 2026 budget, the state is now surpassing the Malabo Declaration targets. This marks a decisive shift towards sustainability and abundance in the agricultural sector. The state’s selection as a pilot for the Nigeria–China Poultry Project is a testament to its stability and leadership capacity.

Looking Ahead: A Unified and Prosperous Kaduna

Governor Sani’s address was a powerful blend of spiritual reflection and pragmatic governance. He painted a picture of a Kaduna State that stands as a beacon of unity, where diversity is a source of strength and progress, and where faith helps build bridges. His commitment to fairness, justice, and inclusive governance reassures the citizens that their leaders are working for the common good, ensuring a brighter and more harmonious future for all.
