NRC Responds to Eid Travel Surge
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) knows the holiday season means more people on the move. That’s why they’re adding extra trips to the Lagos-Ibadan passenger train services. This move comes after a significant increase in passenger bookings due to the Eid al-Kabir festival. No one wants to be stuck in transit during the holidays!
Extra Train Schedule Revealed
According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Public Relations of the NRC, Callistus Unyimadu, here’s what you need to know:
- Lagos-Ibadan: In addition to the regular 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. trains, there’s a new trip at 1:55 p.m.
- Ibadan-Lagos: Besides the usual 8:00 a.m. and 4:46 p.m. trains, an extra trip is scheduled for 11:03 a.m.
Special Services for Warri-Itakpe Route
But wait, there’s more! The NRC isn’t just focusing on the Lagos-Ibadan route. They’re also running a special train service on the Warri-Itakpe corridor on Thursday, June 5, 2025. This is especially significant because Thursday is usually a non-operational day for maintenance. Talk about going the extra mile!
Maintenance Rescheduled for Your Convenience
To make all this possible, the NRC is shifting its routine maintenance activities from Thursday to Sunday, June 8, 2025. This ensures that the trains are running smoothly and safely during the peak travel period.
Abuja-Kaduna Service Runs as Usual
If you’re planning to travel between Abuja and Kaduna, don’t worry! The Abuja-Kaduna (AKTS) service will operate as scheduled, with extra coaches added to accommodate the increased number of passengers.
A Word from the Top
The Managing Director of NRC, Kayode Opeifa, and his team are wishing everyone a safe and pleasant journey during the celebrations. They’re committed to providing railway services that are safe, efficient, and focused on the customer.
