On May 18, 2025, operatives from Umumba Police Division, working with local Neighbourhood Watch, Forest Guards, and community members, rescued four kidnap victims along the Umumba-Ndiuno-Aguoba Road. Four suspects were immediately arrested and are currently being investigated.
9th Mile Response: Swift Action Saves a Woman
Also on May 18, operatives from 9th Mile Division responded to a distress call and rescued a suspect from an angry mob. The suspect and three others had tried to kidnap a woman, but she raised the alarm. The suspect, who was beaten by the mob, is now receiving treatment and is under investigation.
Okpuje Forest Sweep: Foiling Ransom Payments
On May 17, a joint operation by Okpuje Police Division, Neighbourhood Watch, and Forest Guards in a forest bordering Enugu and Kogi States led to the interception of two men carrying ₦150,000 and ₦70,000 intended for ransom. The team faced armed resistance but forced the kidnappers to flee, rescuing the victims and recovering a pump-action gun and ammunition.
