Kidnapper Busted After N1 Million Ransom Grab – Witness Spills the Tea!

Hold up, Naija! Ever wondered how those kidnappers get caught? Well, grab your popcorn because we’ve got a real-life drama unfolding straight from the courtroom. A DSS agent just dropped some serious bombshells about a kidnapper who thought he was too slick for the law. Buckle up, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride!

  • The Kidnap: Ibrahim Ojo was snatched in Oke-Ogun, Oyo State.
  • The Ransom: A whopping N1 million was demanded and paid.
  • The Takedown: The kidnapper, Ali Mohammed, was caught using tech wizardry.
  • The Confession: He admitted to his crimes, even his own lawyer was shocked!

The Kidnap Caper

So, picture this: It’s February 2024, and a man named Ibrahim Ojo gets snatched from his peaceful life in Iwajowa, Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State. This wasn’t your average abduction; it was a full-blown operation by a gang of kidnappers. According to DSS operative, Mr. Tunde Afolabi, things quickly escalated when the kidnappers played a sneaky game of hide-and-seek, moving their operation all the way to Kogi State. This is where the plot thickens!

The Million Naira Transaction

Once in Kogi, the real drama began. The kidnappers, using the slick alias “Mohammed”, started negotiating with Ojo’s family, demanding a hefty N1 million. These guys were not messing around! It turns out that Mohammed had been communicating with Ojo’s relatives and even gave them his UBA account number: 2137984369, with the name Ali Mohammed. After some back and forth, the family wired the money through his Infinix android smart phone with a Glo phone number: 09055244538. Can you believe it?

Tech Takedown

But here’s the plot twist: after he received the money, Mohammed made a rookie mistake! He probably thought he was a tech genius and destroyed his sim card, attempting to cover his tracks. But alas, the DSS, using a phone’s technical analysis, was able to track him down. The long arm of the law finally caught up in Kogi State. Justice is sweet, isn’t it?

Confession Time!

In court, the DSS operative, Afolabi, presented the court with Mohammed’s confession, in both English and Hausa, mind you. The twist? Mohammed’s lawyer, Mr. Bolade Amos, didn’t even object to the testimony because his client had already confessed to him that he was indeed a kidnapper and had received the ransom! The audacity! Even Judge Uche Agomoh advised the lawyer to have a talk with his client about lying to the court. Seems like it is game over for Mohammed.

What’s Next?

This case has been adjourned to Jan. 29 for continuation of trial. Kidnapping is a serious crime under the Nigerian legal system and Mohammed has been facing two charges of kidnapping and ransom since August 2024. This is a real reminder that crime does not pay, and sometimes a silly mistake is all it takes for the long arm of the law to catch up. This is a lesson for us all!
