Gombe Unlocks Global Education: Lincoln University Kumo is Here!

This isn’t just a dream; applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are officially live on their online portal. Imagine getting a degree that’s recognised worldwide, all while staying right here in Nigeria. Pretty cool, eh?

What’s the story behind this amazing new institution? Well, it actually started back in 2017 as the Gombe State University of Science and Technology, Kumo. But it stayed quiet until 2022 when a super smart partnership was forged with Lincoln University College from Malaysia. After a solid Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Lincoln University took the reins, transforming it into the international hub it is today.

Your Future Starts Now: Admission Made Easy

The man in charge, Vice-Chancellor Professor Adamu Sadiq Abubakar, let us know that getting in is surprisingly simple. Just get your application in, and if you’re qualified, you could have your admission letter in your hand within five working days. Talk about fast-tracking your dreams!

Professor Abubakar is beaming, and rightly so! He shared that Lincoln University Kumo is the first foreign university to get the nod from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to operate in Nigeria under the Trans-National Education (TNE) model. This public-private partnership means a win-win for everyone, bringing global standards to our local soil.

What’s On Offer? A World of Courses!

Ready to dive in? Lincoln University Kumo is already firing on all cylinders with three dynamic faculties:

  • Medicine and Allied Health Sciences: Get ready for programs like Medicine (MD/MBBS), Nursing, Public Health, Community Health, Radiography and Medical Imaging, and Health Information Management.
  • Sciences and Computing: Dive into Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity.
  • Management and Social Sciences: Explore exciting fields such as Business Administration, Accounting, Oil and Gas Management, and Mass Communication.

The Vice-Chancellor didn’t forget to give a big shout-out to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for creating the perfect environment for this institution to flourish. It’s a real testament to what can happen when leadership supports innovation!

From Malaysia to Nigeria: A Global Standard

Professor Amiya Bhaumik, the President and Founder of Lincoln University College Malaysia, joined the celebration via Zoom and called this launch a truly historic moment. He promised that the education here in Kumo will be just as top-notch as what you’d find at their headquarters in Malaysia. These programs are globally recognised, meaning graduates will be ready to tackle the world stage and even become job creators themselves!

Affordable Degrees, Global Opportunities

Dr. Murtadho Alao, the Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln University Nigeria, highlighted the university’s impressive global rankings and accreditations. He stressed that the TNE model is a smart and affordable way for Nigerians to get those coveted international degrees without the hefty price tag of studying abroad.

And for the wallet? You’ll be happy to know that tuition fees are between ₦100,000 to ₦150,000 per semester. Plus, there are scholarships galore – at least 50% for all Nigerians and an even sweeter 60% for indigenes of Gombe State! They’re also focusing on making sure students get hands-on experience with something called Practical Class Assessment (PCA) and Practical Skill Application (PSA) to boost employability and entrepreneurial spirit. Oh, and did I mention they’re planning up to two admission intakes every year? That’s flexibility!

This is more than just a new university; it’s a beacon of opportunity, offering a pathway to global careers and empowering the next generation of Nigerian leaders and innovators. Welcome to the future of education in Gombe!
