“May is when we get heavy rain in the South West. I understand that facilities weren’t ready at the end of the year, but we can do better in the future,” Akinwumi stated. He suggested holding the festival towards the end of the year when there’s less rainfall.
Emmanuel Echioma, a handball player from Enugu, echoed these sentiments, noting that the rain would undoubtedly affect the game’s momentum. “If the games were indoors, there would be no problem. The timing of the festival is also a concern,” he added.
